Logis Hôtel Château De Palaja

The exceptional 4-star Chateau de Palaja hotel is located just 8 minutes by car from the famous medieval city of Carcassonne, 8 minutes from Lac de la Cavayère and its Aquaviva park and 9 minutes from the Carcassonne Golf Course. We are very easy to access, just 12 minutes from the motorway, 16 minutes from Carcassonne airport and 13 minutes from Carcassonne SNCF (train) station. Between Toulouse and Narbonne, this 18th century building tastefully renovated by the owners, Cathy and Eric, offers spacious bedrooms and suites as well as access to an outdoor swimming pool, a large garden, and a park with majestic trees classified as " remarkable." The individually designed rooms all have air-conditioning/ heating, a minibar, a safe, a high-definition TV and a private bathroom with a hairdryer and free toiletries. Set in beautiful, calm grounds, we offer a delicious buffet breakfast that you can enjoy in the delightful breakfast room or in the garden (15 euros per person, free for children aged 6 years or under). You can dine at the excellent on-site restaurant "S Comme..." upon prior reservation (managed independently). Platters with selected cheeses and cold meats, artisan beers, a range of magnificent local wines, and/or ice creams made in Carcassonne can be served in the garden each day (to be ordered before 6 p.m). You may also be tempted by access to the gym or by one of Francoise's relaxing massages (to be booked in advance) unless you prefer to benefit from the sauna (at an additional cost unless you have a promotional code). You can also enjoy reading some of the 2000 comic books offered in our tastefully decorated lounge. For more energetic guests, electric bikes, perfect for discovering the beautiful village of Palaja, its vines and forests, can be rented on site. We also offer a range of games including; table-tennis, skittles and boules. For your convenience, electric charging stations are available at an additional cost. We accept all major credit cards ( included Amex) as well as cash or ANCV. Please note: we do not accept pets. Electric vehicle charging (Green'up socket) is also available on the property.

Pros: Hotel owner was incredibly welcoming and helpful. Her recommendations on sightseeing were invaluable. Really lovely grounds and we enjoyed a very civilised aperitif in the garden. Delicious breakfast.

Cons: Wifi works fine but you have to log in each time.

It is worth making a detour to stay in this lovely place.

Pros: Everything. The room was very quiet because of the location of the chateau. We were on the top floor but Catherine kindly carried our luggage up two floors, no lift because it is a chateau. We had the swimming pool to ourselves which was amazing. It is situated in a private walled garden. We enjoyed drinks - excellent and very reasonably priced wine and olives - before dining at the superb restaurant next door where we sat in a beautiful garden. The service was first-class as was the food. This restaurant is not part of the hotel but it is in itself a good reason for staying at the chateau. The romantic walled city of Carcassonne is so close that you can see it. You couldn't find a better place to stop for a night or two, or three, when travelling in France.

Cons: After a long journey - overnight ferry from Corsica and long drive - we had very much hoped that our room would be ready early and we had requested this a day or two in advance. We are in our seventies and we were very tired after being on the road since 5.30am so access to our room a few hours early would have been very welcome. We spent the time by the pool so it was fine, but if it had been raining, or there were other people there, it would not have been so great. During our travels through France, Spain and Corsica, we found most places were happy to let us have our room early, or at least let us sit in the lounge. Otherwise everything was perfect and we loved our stay.

Relaxing time near Carcassonne on a beautiful property with Swimming pool

Pros: Beautiful house, property, swimming pool, corridor Furniture are functional but should be improve for that price range Breakfast was sufficient but again can be improve with more local product, more fruits for example The Swimming pool is really beautiful but not accessible as you need to get a very steep and narrow stairs Staff was great except at breakfast the last day when they were cleaning the room and other table doing a lot of noise while we were still eating and the breakfast was supposed to be still open Overall a great stay but a lot of things the owner could improve to make it to the standing they sell

Cons: furniture/tableware felt Ikea basic TV is a disgrace there should be smart tv in every room instead of cable tv

Pros: We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel! It’s small and very cozy, with a nice renovation and everything you need in the rooms. The grounds are beautiful, with a lovely garden and pool. The hosts, Emma and Kathi, were incredibly friendly and welcoming – they gave us great advice and were always very kind and helpful.

We stayed in this lovely hotel for a week with our family and it was almost impossible to leave!

Pros: We absolutely loved the perfect location, romantic atmosphere and outstanding service... Initially, we stayed for 5 days, but cancelled our next location in favor of this one :-).

Cons: Nothing I can think of....
