A character property in a peaceful area of France
Pros: This is a very well equipped, character property in a pretty village. We particularly enjoyed our evenings on the terrace, cooking our meals on the gas barbecue provided. The house was clean, the beds were comfortable and the pool was well maintained. At the time of our visit, the bedrooms were configured as two doubles and two twins (no bunk beds), making it ideal for our group of adults. The village has a small shop (open daily except Mondays) where you can order fresh bread and croissants to collect each morning. Within the village, there is also a bar and a wine producer (Domaine Coudoulet) where you can enjoy wine tasting and 'cave' visits. Within a 40 minute drive of the cottage, you can reach Carcassone, the Lastours castles, Minerve (our favourite), the Canal du Midi and Lagrasse, all of which we enjoyed. The nearby small town of Olonzac (at most 10 mins away) has a market on Tuesday mornings and a good bakery.
Cons: This wasn't a problem for our group, but for the benefit of others, I am going to point out that this house isn't suitable for people who cannot manage steps easily. Entrance to the house is via a flight of steps. At the time of our visit, there was no vehicular access to the property, however we found parking on the road outside quite easily every day. Make sure to pack mosquito repellent and stock up on citronella candles on arrival if travelling in the summer!

Pros: Beautiful home in a quiet village surrounded by vineyards.
Cons: Needed a car, definitely. Good idea to let visitors know a car is a must!

Excellent, many thanks!
Pros: Overall, we had a fantastic holiday staying at Les Olivier. Here’s why: 1). The location was great for days out, eg Carcassone, Noilly Prat at Marseillan, kayaking from Puicheric. 2). The pool and pool area were brilliant. 3). There is Valerie’s grocery opposite the property. 4). There are two wine cellar doors within walking distance. 5). Both the host & the housekeeper were very approachable and helpful. 6). The kitchen & utility room were well equipped. 7). The property’s layout worked well for a group of 5 adults & 3 teenagers. 8). There was plenty of shaded seating outside.
