Great abode for a short stay for one person or a couple wishing to explore Carcassonne.
Pros: Great location as only a few hundred metres from the railway station and both parts of the city easily walkable. I’m a runner so perfect for running both the Canal du Midi tow path and the route along the Garonne.
Cons: Not much natural light but that is not a complaint. It was low cost and very good value.

We loved Carcassone and staying in El Boulangerie added to French experience!
Pros: Very central, everything we wanted to visit was within walking distance. Everything we needed for a short stay was provided. Fridge, cooking facilities, pots, pans, cutlery, kettle, microwave, toaster, coffee machine. It was very cute and quirky and for the price was ok.
Cons: The toilet seat was loose and broken. The shower curtain fell down a few times as not permanently fixed. Noise from the apartments above quite loud and their running water could be heard passing through pipes in our accommodation. But with the age of the building wasn’t expecting it would be perfect.

Convenient, comfortable and economical, especially if arriving by train.
Pros: The location is very close to the station, Canal du Midi, and the market and plazas of downtown, a pleasant walk from the Castle. The guide the owner provides as a PDF was very useful and gave some helpful tips for a visitor, including a recommendation for very good bakery that opens early (though prepare to screenshot and use Google Translate if you can’t read French). The street it’s on feels a little run down, but safe enough. The apartment is ground level and was easy to access once I could use Google Translate to understand the instructions. It’s a simple, smallish apartment, and feels like one. It’d probably be a bit crowded for more than two or three people, but was really quite good value for money for one. It was clean, well-stocked for cooking for yourself, and comfortable enough for a quick trip through Carcassonne. I slept very well, though I’m used to very firm beds.
Cons: Minor quibbles, which as this is the first review I hope the owner will get addressed; it wasn’t obvious which lockbox was for this apartment, a larger label and a map to the apartment door on the wall (as with other properties in the same building) would help. On arrival in December the property was quite cold, there was a convenient space heater provided, but it took a minute to figure out how to get it working, would be nice if simple instructions were provided. Guests are asked to do their own dishes before leaving, but there’s no dish soap to clean them up with. Similarly the there are shampoo and body wash bottles in the shower, but they were empty. It would also be good to have somewhere to hang towels in the bathroom after use. Lastly the shower was set too hot to be comfortable for me, but there was no way to change the temperature, the control seemed to be stuck at that setting. I did message the owner about this, but did not hear back before checking out the next morning.
